How does pipe network planning work with autarc?
Pipe network planning is a dedicated tab in the floor plan editor that builds directly on your floor plan. You place the heating components, draw the pipe connections, and autarc calculates the pipe network – separated by heating circuit and domestic hot water circuit.
- Step 1: Place heat pump, hot water storage tank, radiators, and risers
- Step 2: Draw pipes using snapping – plan new pipes or record existing ones
- Step 3: Accept suggested diameters, define material, and add valves with Kv values
- Step 4: Calculate values per circuit and check them in the review tab

Your benefits with pipe network planning
- Pipe network in minutes: Instead of planning the pipe network by hand or in a separate program, it is created directly on the floor plan you already have in autarc.
- Fewer planning errors: The automatic check identifies unconnected radiators and open pipe ends before the planning is finalized.
- 3D without CAD: The exploded view shows the entire system. You can rotate and inspect it in the same tool you use for planning – no CAD software or CAD skills required.
- Even across multiple floors: Risers connect the floors. This allows you to plan not only single-story projects but also more complex residential buildings.
- Everything in one tool: From the floor plan to the finished pipe network, you stay within autarc – without switching to other software.

and your money.
Pipe network planning FAQ
What is pipe network planning?
Pipe network planning allows you to determine the routing and dimensions of the heating pipes from the heat pump to each radiator and the hot water storage tank. This ensures you know exactly which pipes you need and how they should be installed before you begin.
Where can I find the pipe network planning tool in autarc?
You can find the pipe network planning tool in the sidebar of the floor plan editor. You work on a dedicated tab directly on your existing floor plan.
How much does pipe network planning cost?
You can currently use the pipe network planning tool free of charge.
What types of buildings is the pipe network planning intended for?
Pipe network planning is designed for residential buildings – from single-story homes to multi-story buildings.
Does pipe network planning work across multiple floors?
Yes. Risers route the lines between floors, and floors can be aligned using common coordinates. In the 3D exploded view, you can see the entire house with all connections.
Can I also record existing pipes?
Yes. In addition to new pipes, you can also document existing pipes, for example during a renovation. You can define the material and other standard values yourself.
Which values does autarc calculate?
autarc automatically calculates the volume flow, pressure loss, and flow velocity for each circuit, separated by heating and hot water circuits. For new pipes, autarc also suggests the appropriate diameter.
