Simplify heat pump planning – with LiDAR scan and standard-compliant design

Plan and install heat pumps using a single software. autarc covers the entire planning process – from building capture via LiDAR scan, through the heat load calculation according to MCS, and up to the heating system design according to VDI 4645.

What is the autarc planning module for heat pumps?

The autarc planning module is a software platform for complete heat pump design in existing buildings. It integrates building assessment, heat load calculation, heating surface design, heat pump sizing, and hydraulic balancing in a single application. This allows you to digitize the planning process from initial assessment to the final design report.

Cooling Load Calculations

Calculate cooling load in minutes with the LiDAR scanner!

With autarc, you can quickly perform cooling load calculations according to VDI 2078, in a standard-compliant manner. The software captures all relevant parameters with the LiDAR scan and calculates solar, transmission, and internal load components. Your results are provided as a detailed report. The intuitive operation saves valuable time and ensures precise results for every project.

Why does heat pump planning take so long in many businesses?

In most craft businesses, planning starts with a tape measure. Building data is manually collected, room dimensions are transferred to Excel spreadsheets, and heating loads are calculated in separate software. For hydraulic balancing, another tool is needed, and for heat pump sizing, often an external service provider. Every system change costs time, and every manual transfer introduces errors.

The result: A complete design for a single-family home often takes several days with conventional methods. For example, a heating load calculation at Daume Gruppe using CAD software took up to two days – just for the calculation, without building data acquisition and design.

Why do many heat pump projects fail due to improper design?

Heat pump projects often fail due to improper design because many businesses lack the tools to calculate heat load, assess heating surfaces, and perform sizing in a single, standards-compliant process. Without calculations based on DIN EN 12831 and VDI 4645, heat pumps are incorrectly sized – oversized units constantly cycle, while undersized ones fail to reach the desired room temperature. Moreover, without correct hydraulic balancing according to Procedure B, no funding is available.

How does heat pump planning work with autarc?

Capture building data

The LiDAR scan automatically captures room geometries using an iPhone or iPad. A single-family home can be fully measured in a maximum of 15 minutes. The floor plan editor allows for corrections directly within the 3D model.

Calculate heating load

The heating load calculation determines the heat demand for each room according to MCS. U-values can be set as a lump sum, via a calculator, or manually. The standard-compliant report is generated automatically.

Design heating surfaces

The radiator recognition identifies existing radiators using AI. The heating surface design checks whether the existing surfaces are sufficient for heat pump operation and calculates replacements if necessary.

Size the heat pump

The heating system design selects the appropriate device according to VDI 4645, determines the bivalence point, and configures buffer tanks and domestic hot water preparation. The installation site simulation displays the selected model to scale via AR at the planned location.

Perform hydraulic balancing

The hydraulic balancing calculates the optimal volume flows according to Method B and outputs the setting values for each valve. The eligible documentation is generated automatically.
