Where do I install the heat pump?

Heat pump units and their location
An air-water heat pump usually has two units. Most often, one is outside (outdoor unit) and the other inside the building (indoor unit or hydrobox). These heat pumps are available in monoblock or split versions. They differ in the location where the heating water is heated.
- The monoblock (or compact) contains all components of the cooling circuit (compressor, condenser, expansion valve, control and safety elements). The heating water is heated directly in the monoblock and flows from there through the pipe into the house directly into the heating circuit or into the buffer tank.
- In the split version, the condenser is in the house. The refrigerant travels through pipes from the outdoor unit to the house and heats the heating water only inside.
For houses where outdoor installation is not possible (e.g. due to lack of space or in a densely populated area where the heat pump could disturb neighbors due to noise), a heat pump can be selected that is completely designed for indoor installation. The entire device is then installed inside (e.g. in a technical room) and is only connected to the outdoor environment via air ducts.
